It takes 400 years for a tennis or pádel ball to decompose.
The carbon footprint of a tennis or pádel ball is staggering. More than half a kilogram of carbon emissions is generated for every tennis ball, and studies have shown that around 325 million tennis balls are produced each year. That's 20 thousand tonnes of non-degradable waste.

One of our core values at Mpala is to help develop a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly future. We do that one ball at a time.
How does Mpala make tennis & pádel more sustainable?
01
We collect balls directly from tennis & pádel Clubs
We partner with tennis & pádel Clubs across Europe to collect used balls from their members & coaches. We adapt our collection methodology to the needs of each Club via collection buckets designed its match the style, look & feel.
02
We supply the balls we collect to waste recovery and textile partners
Balls are made of high quality rubber than can have countless uses in the textile and waste to energy industry. We partner with local organisations to ensure no ball ends up in a landfill
